Product description
A concrete flyover covered in graffiti, a gas station at two past midnight, an abandoned roadside restaurant, a soulless shopping mall, a suburban housing development where every street looks just like the last—public space belongs to us all, and much of what we build is truly inspiring. This exhibition and publication, however, focus on the other side of the coin: the built environment that shines in its own insignificance, uniformity, ugliness, or sheer dullness. These spaces, too, are an essential part of our world.
Featuring around 100 artworks by more than 35 contemporary artists, Museum MORE and STRAAT Museum examine the contemporary public space. The selection encompasses photography, painting, drawing, video, three-dimensional work, and graffiti.
