    Product description

Originally painted inside The Roxy, a landmark New York nightclub that became an important gathering place for the emerging Hip Hop movement in the 1980s, B-Boy captures a defining moment in Bill Blast’s artistic evolution. Created during a period when he often signed simply as “Bil,” the work marks his transition from letter-based graffiti toward figurative imagery.

The figure pays tribute to Wayne “Frosty Freeze” Frost of the Rock Steady Crew, one of the most influential breakdancing groups in Hip Hop history. His signature ski goggles made famous through early Hip Hop films such as Wild Style and Flashdance anchor the composition.

Reflected in the goggles is a futuristic cityscape, linking the urban environment where Hip Hop was born with an imagined future. Set against a galaxy backdrop, the work presents the b-boy as a timeless symbol of movement, creativity, and the global reach of Hip Hop culture.
