MACK

MACK’s background spans sculpture, photography, and film. After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in sculpture, she joined the camera department in film production, which is when her love for street photography developed. Her paintings are based on her photos and explore the natural compositions of people in public spaces, their body language, group dynamics, and interactions.

When asked to collaborate with the STRAAT Museum for this project, MACK decided to create a poster campaign. Advertising posters on the street are marketing tools designed to grab your attention. Mack decided to reverse this by making posters that bring the rawness, imperfection, and awareness of the street into the art space. She used stencils with only one color to create a two-dimensional image of the highlights and shadows of the people she photographs. These figures are then used to create new compositions filled with flow and movement, blending people together and creating anonymity.
